WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Fire Department is reminding residents to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors on Sunday, March 9, when they turn their clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time.
Smoke alarm batteries need to be changed at least once a year. This simple act cuts the risk of dying in a home fire nearly in half, the fire department said.
The Wilton Fire Department is also reminding residents to test smoke alarms once a month and to replace units that are more than 10 years old.
