WILTON, Conn. – A former employee of a Wilton toy store has been charged by Wilton police in connection with a break-in and theft of about $600 from the store.
Michael Spirer, 29, of Deacon’s Lane, was charged Thursday with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer, all misdemeanors, as well as refusal to be fingerprinted, a violation.
Police said a glass door was damaged at The Toy Chest, 5 River Road, during the overnight hours Thursday and a bag containing about $600 was taken.
Police said information led them to Spirer, a former employee, being a suspect. Spirer was picked up in Naugatuck at about 7:15 a.m. Thursday after he was arrested overnight on a separate narcotics charge, police said. Police said Spirer had about $200 in his possession at the time.
Police said Spirer failed to cooperate with investigators during his arrest. He was arraigned Friday in Norwalk Superior Court. According to state court records, Spirer is being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Friday in Norwalk Court.
