Maldonado was born to Juan P. Maldonado and Natividad Nieves in San Juan, P.R.
After the family relocated to Bridgeport, she eventually retired as a social worker at Bridgeport Hospital after 30 years of service.
Maldonado is survived by her mother, son Ephraim Medina, two daughters, Elizabeth Medina Ulloa and Erim Medina Corado; a brother Edwin, and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Rafael.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz, at 426 E. Washington Ave. in Bridgeport.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 275 Union Ave. in Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital Development Fund, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
