This year, the school district has a new superintendent, Kevin Smith, who took the reins in the school district over the summer. He came to the job from Bethel, replacing Gary Richards, who retired after 10 years in Wilton.
Wilton school board Chairman Bruce Likly said Smith was selected after a nationwide search.
Here are the school start times:
- 7:40 a.m. for Cider Mill;
- 8:10 a.m. for Wilton High School;
- 8:20 a.m. for Middlebrook; and
- 9:05 a.m. for Miller-Driscoll.
“We are thrilled Kevin Smith is coming to Wilton and believe he is exactly the right person to lead the Wilton schools on our continued journey of academic excellence and greater achievement,” Likly said when Smith was hired.
“Dr. Smith is committed to our vision of making Wilton one of the top performing school districts in the nation, and to ensuring that every Wilton child leaves our schools well-prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.”
Smith was named superintendent in Bethel in 2012. He was previously the principal at Bethel Middle School from 2006-12. Read more about Smith here on the Daily Voice.
The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., in the Wilton High School Professional Library.
